Secondina Jaranilla

Secondina Jaranilla is a 54 year old woman with three children. Her youngest child is still studying in high school. Her husband passed away three years ago. Her family lives in the village of Carmen which is in the town of Toledo in Cebu province.

Secondina runs a stall in the town’s public market which focuses in selling ready to wear dresses, shirts and pants. She also sells slippers, rubber shoes, bags, school uniforms and socks. She also has two other outlets outside the market wherein she hires two female assistants to manage the stalls.

Most of her stocks are bought in Cebu City where her regular suppliers are situated. She has been operating the business for more than 30 years now. Secondina has requested her fourth loan from the micro-finance organisation, Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative, in order to have more funds to buy the stocks needed at her stall. All of her items are salable so she needs to maintain the quantity of her stocks to keep her loyal customers. Secondina wants to earn more so she could support her family’s needs. Her loan was released last 2 August and is repayable over a period of six months.

Secondina's Stall

She has been able to sustain regular customers who purchase her products. The busiest day of the week is Sunday and she could earn more than $80 in that day. Most of her savings are used in dealing with their household expenses and school fees. She plans to avail another loan from Lamac and Lendwithcare so she could have the capital needed in preparation for graduation day from schools. She will purchase additional accessories so her customers can purchase all they need in her stall.
